Within the theme of education, three objectives have been formulated: ensuring the basic quality of education, improving the alignment between education and the labor market, and facilitating smooth transitions between different levels and types of education.
An assessment of the education sector resulted in ten recommendations in the final report of the Sint Maarten Education Visitation. Subsequently, three reforms were prioritized for implementation:
- Evaluation of the learning environment (physical, digital, and provisions for students with special educational needs).
- Revision of the curriculum for primary education (FBE).
- Evaluation and revision of the Job Classification Book and remuneration structures of the Ministry of ECYS.
This action plan focuses on the preparatory phase (research, reports, document revision) of these projects, aiming to deliver updated documents that align with current standards. The actual implementation falls outside the scope of this plan, partly due to the deadline of the Landspakket (April 2027). To ensure continuity, the Ministry of ECYS will embed the implementation in the multi-year policy framework, annual budget cycles, and legislative agenda.
